Straight answers on what we collect, how the process works, what it costs, and what happens to your battery.
If your question isn’t answered below, submit a General Enquiry via the Contact page — or, if you’re ready to arrange pickup, submit a Collection Request directly.
We collect two lithium chemistries:
Across both chemistries we handle home batteries, residential and commercial energy storage systems (ESS), and EV battery packs (EV LIBs).
Yes — but you must declare the condition and provide photos when you submit your Collection Request. Do not attempt to disturb a swollen or thermally unstable battery yourself.
Both. Single-unit residential collections are welcome, as are larger decommissioning jobs. Indicate the volume in the form.
Submit the form with photos and whatever detail you have — manufacturer name, model number, and approximate age are the most useful. Our team will work it out with you.
No. We specialise in two lithium chemistries — LFP (LiFePO₄) and NMC — and don't collect other battery types. For lead-acid, alkaline, nickel-cadmium, or other chemistries, you'll need to contact a general battery recycler.
Not currently. Our operations are set up for LFP (LiFePO₄) and NMC only. If you're unsure which chemistry your battery is, submit the form with photos and we'll confirm before scheduling.
We collect from CBDs in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast.
Possibly. Submit a Collection Request anyway. Our operations team assesses outer-suburban, regional, and remote pickups case-by-case and will let you know if we can help.
Not by default — coverage is CBD-based. Regional pickups are assessed case-by-case; the more detail you provide in the form, the faster we can respond.
Six steps: Collection Request → Safe Collection → Transport → Cell-Level Assessment → Battery Recovery → Responsible Recycling. See Our Process for the full walkthrough.
We respond to Collection Requests within 1-2 business days. Typical lead time from confirmed booking to pickup is 2-5 business days, subject to location, battery condition, and volume.
It depends. Tell us in the form whether the battery is still installed and what type of installation it is. Our team will advise whether de-installation needs to happen before pickup.
Chain-of-custody documentation is standard on every collection. You'll also receive confirmation of the final outcome for your battery — how many cells were recovered and how many went to recycling.
End-of-life lithium batteries are classified as Class 9 dangerous goods and can pose fire, thermal, and chemical risks — particularly if damaged, swollen, or exposed to physical shock or heat. That's why safe collection and ADG-aligned transport matter.
Our collection, transport, and handling processes are aligned with the Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code, relevant AS/NZS standards for battery handling and workplace safety, State EPA requirements, and Work Health and Safety (WHS) obligations.
Batteries are packaged and secured to Class 9 dangerous goods requirements and moved under the Australian Dangerous Goods Code. Documentation travels with the battery from pickup to final destination.
We can't promise reuse for any specific battery until it's been assessed. Every pack we collect is dismantled and every cell tested individually. Cells that meet our standards may be recovered for reuse; cells that don't are routed to approved recycling partners.
They go to approved recycling partners who handle lithium battery material streams. We don't publish partner names, but the routing is documented in your chain of custody.
Recovered cells suitable for reuse are made available through our parent brand, BESS Australia — the buying audience there is pack builders, engineers, and R&D teams. This site does not sell recovered cells.
No — and anyone claiming that is not being straight with you. Some cells fail testing. Some batteries arrive in a state where nothing is salvageable. Our commitment is to a documented, defensible outcome for each battery — not to a headline percentage.
Collection is quoted case-by-case based on battery type, condition, volume, location, and site access. Submit a Collection Request and we'll come back to you with details.
Commercial terms are confirmed at the quote stage. Nothing is charged before you've agreed to it.
The Collection Request form gives us the detail we need to quote accurately. If you have a general question about the process, use the General Enquiry form on the Contact page instead.
By email. When you submit a form, our team reviews your details and replies by email within 1-2 business days.
Use the General Enquiry form on the Contact page. It's for installers, partnership enquiries, media, and anything that isn't a Collection Request.
